Info
The cast iron structure Sayner Hütte built by Carl Ludwig Althans in 1828 is one of the most important examples of the early industrial era in Germany. The main focus of this project is on labor, art, production and representation, all aspects which also characterize the design of Sayner Hütte. The Summer Academy is based on workshops and various collaborations and enables a direct, collaboratively creative exchange of all participants. The summer academy hosts a series of public events, exhibitions, film screenings and lectures to react on the complex interplay of the different subjects. “Production” is a key term for the entire project because it is precisely here that the differences to current, globalized and sometimes anonymous manufacturing processes are so striking. The Summer Academy is an example for a free creative cooperation process that questions the conditions of work and aesthetics using the tools of contemporary art.
